Per Chi Ascolta - Cyber-Gothic-Metal, Deathstars e Marilyn Manson.

Facile prevedere che "Dying Life" sia il secondo ed ultimo Ep ad essere autoprodotto da parte di un gruppo già ben inserito nel circuito media nostrano ed i cui pezzi sono in rotazione nell'iPod personale di Mr. Marilyn Manson! Contrariamente a quanto si potrebbe pensare però la proposta stilistica dei KeeN non è affatto appiattita su quella del reverendo, che viene chiamato in causa poco più che nei passaggi vocali gridati. L'altro punto di riferimento del cantante è Till Lindeman, anche se la vicinanza sonora al modello dei Rammstein è ridotta rispetto al passato. Linee chitarristiche più sciolte e ritmi sostenuti rimandano soprattutto a progetti scandinavi quali Deathstars e The Kovenant, mentre l'ambio utilizzo di moduli ritmici elettronici e ballabili suggerisce qualche ascendenza ebm. Le canzoni sono 6, tutte atestate sul medesimo buon livello, senza cadute ma anche senza quel singolo killer che avrebbe aiutato ad emergere. La titletrack è l'episodio che resta più impresso, ma se c'è qualcosa su cui i KeeN dovranno lavorare ancora sono proprio le melodie. Discorso a parte merita la conclusiva "Sleeping Beauty", atipica ballata per accompagnare un cortometraggio e cantata in italiano a dispetto del titolo. Buono comunque il refrain ed il break heavy centrale. Quel che si dice un gruppo Promettente.

It’s easy to predict that “Dying Life”, the second EP from an already well-established Italian band whose work is playing on the personal iPod of Mr. Marilyn Manson, will be the last of their self-produced releases. Contrary to what might be thought, the stile proposed by KeeN is not based upon that of the Master, echoes of whom may be sensed in little more than the screamed vocal passages. The other main point of reference for the vocal lead is Till Lindeman, albeit the sonorous resemblance to Rammstein is less than what it has been in the past. More flowing guitar and sustained rhythms recall the Scandinavian Deathstars and The Kovenant, while the modular electronic and danceable rhythms bear a certain resemblance to EBM. There are six songs, all of the same good quality, with no throwaways, but also without a single killer hit that would have helped the band emerge. The title track is the most catchy but if there is any aspect that KeeN should work to improve it is on the melodies. I make an exception for the final track, “Sleeping Beauty”, an atypical ballad suitable to acompany a short film and sung in Italian inspite of its title. The refrain and heavy central break are good in this one. A promising group.
