| Dopo l'EP
Love With Bile, il cambio di line up e il
concerto di supporto a Marilyn Manson tornano
i Keen con un nuovo CD intitolato Dying
Life. Fin dalla open track "Swallow"
si nota come per questo nuovo lavoro la
band si sia concentrata maggiormente sulle
parti elettroniche e sui refrain. Le influenze
rammsteiniane sono ancora presenti, anche
se in maniera meno ingombrante del precedente
CD, e ben si amalgamo con l'EBM, qui meglio
metabolizzata, e con parti che sfiorano
l'electro industrial in stile Wumpscut.
Brani come "Dancing With Destre",
"Anthem Of A Little Child" e "Mechanical
Rusting Doll" grazie al loro incedere
danzereccio e alle melodie di sicuro impatto
potrebbero diventare delle hit da goth club.
La cosa che balza infatti subito all'orecchio
è l'attenzione che la band ha riposto
sui ritornelli catchy, ma non scontati,
che si insinuano subito nella mente e la
grande cura negli arrangiamenti. I riff,
pur rimanendo ancorati al genere, in certi
frangenti si sono fatti più personali
e ben si alternano con le riuscite parti
di synth. A spiccare rimane sempre la voce
di Shirley, che passa agevolmente dal cantato
caldo e goticheggiante allo "stile
teutonico" di Till Lindemann fino allo
scream death/black. Discorso a parte va
fatto per l'ultima traccia "Sleeping
Beauty", brano scritto come colonna
sonora di un cortometraggio e interessante
esperimento di cantato in italiano che potrebbe
essere utilizzato anche in futuro.
Un passo in avanti per
una band dal futuro successo!!!

| After the EP Love With
Bile, a change in line up and the concert
supporting Marilyn Manson, KeeN returns
with a new CD entitled Dying Life. From
the end of the opening track, “Swallow",
it is clear that for this new work the band
has decided to focus more on the electronic
sections and on the refrains. The Rammstein
infuences are still present, even if in
a less cumbersome way than in the previous
CD, and they go well with the EBM, better
metabolized here, and with parts that graze
the electro-industrial in Wumpscut style.
Songs like "Dancing with Desire”,
“Anthem of a Little Child” and
“Mechanical Rusting Doll”, thanks
to their thrashing and certain melodies
could become goth club hits. The first thing
that strikes the ear is the attention that
the band has played to catchy but not meaningless
refrains that are immediately haunting and
the band’s great care with all of
their arrangements. The riffs, without ransgressing
the genre, are in some places a little more
personal and alternate well with the keyboard.
The enunciating voice is always that of
Shirley and it passes from the warmly sung
gothic through the teutonic style of Till
Lindemann to the scream easy death/black.
This final discourse in part speaks to the
last track, “Sleeping Beauty”,
written like the sonorous soundtrack to
a short film. This is an interesting experiment
in sung Italian which could also be used
in the future.
A step forward for a band with
great future prospects!
